I need to request some emergency assistance, and hope that asking in this way isn’t too much. I promise, I wouldn’t go through all of this if I had a better option.

My car engine suddenly died on the way to work today. It’s too high of a cost to think about fixing for my poor old car. And, it couldn’t happen at a worse time. I really don’t share a lot of overly personal things online these days, but the little extra money I did have has gone to paying my share of some rather large medical bills for my daughter, Sofia, over the past year, and unfortunately, in that same time, a lot ($6,000+) also went into the very car that is now deceased.

And now, I need to somehow come up with enough money for a decent used car, from scratch, and quickly. My car was the only way for me to get to work, and I work close to an hour from home. I’ve been working there for 8+ years now, and would hate to lose my position over something like this.

I have a good friend who is a master mechanic, who will help me find the best deal for whatever I can come up with, and will give his honest assessment before I purchase any vehicle, which is very reassuring.

Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to help out - any contribution will be greatly appreciated. It’s not an easy thing to ask, and I know lots of other folks are also struggling, but I really wasn’t sure what else to do.

Update: I’ve got a loaner car from a friend, and if I can come up with the money, I have the option to buy it from them. They have had other people interested, but I’m hoping to be able to claim it.
