We urgently need to move our shelter from its current location.

After years of trying to fundraise, in 2022 we were incredibly fortunate to purchase 12,000m² of land thanks to a generous donation from one supporter. Since then , we have worked tirelessly to secure all required building permissions. However, this process took far longer than expected and came with significant additional costs due to country regulations and requirements.

As a result, our funds have now been depleted before construction could even begin.

On top of this, unforeseen issues with the land have created further challenges. Due to the slope of the terrain, a retaining wall is required, which involved essential excavation works that we have already had to fund. This retaining wall will form part of the future kennel block, but it has significantly reduced our remaining budget.

We now urgently need to raise funds to begin Phase One of the project — building a purpose-built facility with 50 kennels, including quarantine and arrivals areas.

To remain transparent, we will increase the fundraising goal step by step as we progress through each stage of the build, until the full amount is reached or we are able to secure additional funding through a grant.

The situation at our current shelter is becoming desperate. It is no longer safe or fit for purpose for our dogs or our volunteers.
• Our relationship with the landlord has broken down. He refuses to renew our contract and has doubled the rent to €500 per month, knowing we have nowhere else to go.
• We rely on a neighbouring business for electricity, which is overpriced and unreliable. At times, they have cut off the supply completely — leaving us without power for up to two months last winter.
• The water pressure is extremely low, making daily cleaning tasks take hours longer than they should.
• There is no shade or protection. The stony ground turns the shelter into an oven in summer and leaves it freezing or flooded in winter. Tragically, puppies have died due to these extreme conditions.
• We have no secure exercise area. Fencing is in poor condition, and dogs have escaped. Located next to a railway line, we have heartbreakingly lost six dogs to passing trains.
• We have received repeated threats from a neighbouring landowner, escalating to the point where police have been called four times. This has been especially distressing for our female volunteers.
• Without a quarantine area, taking in new rescues is always high risk.
• Our old metal kennels are damaged and unsafe, leading to injuries for both dogs and volunteers.

Despite all of this, we continue to care for over 100 dogs every single day.

They deserve safety. They deserve warmth, space, and proper care. They deserve a future.

Please help us give them that future.

Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to building a safe, secure shelter where these dogs can finally thrive.

Thank you so much for your support.
