Donate to help Sam Lynch and her family

Hi,

This is our beautiful friend Sam. She is a Mother, Wife, Daughter, Daughter-in-law, Nurse and Friend. We are fundraising to help and support her gorgeous family in any way we can through her bowel cancer journey.

Sam gave birth to her healthy, little twin girls in September, 2022. Less than a week later she was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer.

6 days after giving birth to her twins she had a fever that was unexplainable through blood tests and was asked to return to the hospital for a colonoscopy, this procedure was not able to be completed as the growth was so big. Sam was booked for emergency surgery the next day and stayed in hospital for 10 days to recover. She was lucky to have the support of her husband and family to help the baby girls settle into life Earthside and her toddler adapt to life as a big sister.

Sam then started chemo in October and has been lucky enough to be able to have chemo at home where the nurses visit 3 days a fortnight to administer drugs. She is nearly finished her first 12 rounds of chemo with at least another 6 coming up.

Sam is one of the most supportive, happy, strong and resilient women and with her family of 5 is about to take on the next chapter of her journey and move interstate so they can all have the support of their wider family network.

During a visit with Sam we discussed her future and what she hopes to do and here is what she said…

“Once I’m on the mend I will be campaigning for earlier interventions for bowel screening as it’s currently not available for anyone under 50. More and more people and particularly women are getting diagnosed after birth and hopefully I can get back to my nursing career and start making changes to bowel screening and awareness in Australia”.

Sam has also mentioned that in the future she aspires to help and advocate for people in her position and ensure they receive the support that’s available to them.
