Donate to help Marrakech earthquake survivors

Hi my name is Tamer Mehanna and I'm fundraising for Salima, a resident of Marrakech whose home collapsed during the recent earthquake. Salima has been the caretaker of my home for the past 5 years since I moved to Morocco. She is a very hard working mother of 2 boys and wife to an elderly disabled man who had eye surgery days before the earthquake happened. Her entire life is dedicated to being in service to those around her, and she works tirelessly every single day. She is an exceptionally decent person who comes to work every day with a can-do attitude.

Since the earthquake her entire family has been forced to stay with their neighbors until they can figure out what to do. Salima works 80 hour weeks and sells hand-made goods on the side to make ends meet. She was already under significant financial stress before the earthquake due to caring for her mentally disabled father. This woman is single-handedly carrying her entire family financially, and has always been self-reliant for her entire life. Now her woes have worsened dramatically because the house she lives in has been destroyed.

She has no idea I am launching this fundraiser for her, I am hoping we can give her new start. I know with certainty she needs the help and I hope you can help me make sure she gets it.

Let us come together now to help Salima and her family get a new roof over their heads as soon as possible. We estimate it will take $30,000 to buy a new government-built house that is comparable to her old home. I will keep this fundraiser going for 2 weeks and if we make significant progress to the goal of $30,000 then I will keep it going until we reach the goal. The funds will go to my account and I will disburse them personally to her directly and personally supervise their allocation to the new home purchase once a contract is ready to be signed. If we are unable to reach the target goal, then the funds will instead be used to secure a long-term rental lease for her family, again for comparable accommodations. During this process I will post regular updates here as the platform allows to demonstrate progress to the goal of building her family a new home.
