Hi, my name is Lucy and I’m fundraising for my 6-year-old Staffy, Roxy.
Roxy has developed multiple lumps along her mammary glands, and the vets are concerned. She urgently needs them removed and tested to find out if they are cancerous, as well as being spayed to reduce further risk.
I’ve taken her to the PDSA, and while they’ve been supportive, they’ve explained they can only remove the lumps in separate procedures and don’t offer testing to confirm if they are cancerous. They’ve advised that going privately may be the better option for her situation.
Roxy becomes extremely stressed at the vets and will need sedation even for smaller procedures, so putting her through multiple surgeries would be very distressing for her.
Going privately would allow:
• Removal of all lumps
• Testing to determine if they are cancerous
• Spaying at the same time
This would mean one operation instead of several, reducing risk and stress for her and giving us clear answers about her health.
I never ask for help, and this has been really difficult to do, but for Roxy I would do anything to give her the best chance.
Over the past year, my circumstances have changed due to ongoing health issues, and I’m doing everything I can to manage.
I also recently lost my other dog very suddenly at just 4 years old, which has been heartbreaking and really hard on me and my children and we can’t go through that again without doing everything I can for Roxy.
I am contributing what I can, but I can’t afford the upfront costs for private treatment.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean the world. If not, even sharing Roxy’s story could help us reach someone who can.
The estimated cost so far is around £1,500–£2,000, although this may increase depending on how many lumps need removing and further treatment
Thank you so much for reading
