Rosalina Hernandez came to Canada from the Philippines not for herself, but to care for her grandchild while her daughter Rhona worked. Since 2017, she has been a quiet, steady presence in their home, cooking meals, giving comfort, and being the heart of the household. This July, her family celebrated a milestone when Rosalina received confirmation of her Permanent Residency, a long-awaited step toward security and belonging in Canada.
But before she could even hold her new PR card in hand or access health coverage through MSP, tragedy struck. Rosalina suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the ICU. The bills from her first hospitalization already total $12,000, and now she urgently requires an angiogram procedure in Kelowna that may cost another $10,000 or more. With no coverage until October 1st, every expense falls directly on the family.
Rhona and her family are doing everything they can, but this sudden health emergency has left them carrying an overwhelming financial and emotional load. Rosalina has always given her strength and care freely, now it is her turn to be cared for.
We are asking friends, neighbours, and anyone moved by this story to come alongside Rosalina in her fight for recovery. Every donation, big or small, will go directly to her medical care. If donating is not possible, please consider sharing her story.
Your support will not only help cover urgent costs, it will remind Rosalina and her family that they are not alone.
With gratitude,
