Hi my name is Tara and I am fundraising for Riley. I cannot imagine the heartache of travelling 7000 km to be with your son in the ICU and the unexpected cost.

Riley is a 17-year-old who recently travelled to Spain on a school pilgrimage, an experience that was meant to be meaningful and unforgettable. Unfortunately, during the trip, Riley became sick with pneumonia. His condition worsened quickly, and he is now in the hospital in Spain, where he has undergone a procedure to insert a chest tube to drain fluid from his lungs. Even once the chest tube is removed, Riley will not be able to travel home for two weeks, meaning he and his mom will need to remain in Spain during his recovery.

Being so far from home during such a frightening time has been incredibly difficult. Riley’s mom, Christy, who is a single mom, immediately travelled to Spain to be by his side, where she continues to support him through his recovery.

This situation has placed an unexpected emotional and financial burden on their family. Funds raised will help cover medical expenses, travel costs, accommodations, and any ongoing care Riley may need once he is stable enough to return home.

Riley is strong, and with the care he is receiving and the support of those around him, we are hopeful for his recovery. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean so much to Riley and his family. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would also be greatly appreciated.
