Donate to Rick Weirich's Heart Surgery & Recovery

Hi, my name is Tracie, and I'm trying to raise money to help my brother-in-law Rick Weirich. My sister (Leslie Grob Weirich) and Rick got married on Sept 24, 2022, on a Pirate Ship in Clearwater Beach, Florida, with family and friends. They only had a few short weeks together as husband and wife when Rick suffered a heart attack at a local Festival. He was admitted to St Joseph Hospital, and after multiple tests, they were told he needed double Bypass heart surgery. The surgery was long and nerve-wracking, but Rick made it through ok. Rick will be off work for at least three months, and my sister Leslie cannot work right now as she is trying to be there for him while he is recovering and still in the ICU.

Today 10/17/22, we had more bad news that they would have to repeat the surgery as there was still a blockage. So, they took him back immediately, and he underwent another heart surgery. As I write this, he is just coming out of surgery, and my sister is waiting to see him. I will update this as I know more.

I know they are stressing about what they will do since Rick cannot go back to work for at least three months (as far as we know). My sister is also missing work. She is there by his side, trying to help support him while he is in and out of these surgeries in ICU.

I hope to help them with food and gas money from running back and forth trying to take care of the things at their home, their average bills cant go unpaid, and they will need money for medical bills for what they will have to pay outside of insurance, for 2 heart surgeries and the hospital stay. I hope this will at least relieve them from worrying about the things due right now. They need to focus on getting Rick healthy again, so he can return to a happy, healthy married life.

UPDATE: 10/21/22 Rick came out of the second surgery ok and we found out that the bypass on the left artery had failed the 2nd day after surgery. This caused a second heart attack which damaged his heart muscle. They successfully placed a stent to reopen the origional blocked artery and restore the blood flow to the heart. They don't know the extent of the damage from the second heart attack yet. He is doing better and is still in ICU. They are trying to get as much excess fluid from around his heart as possible. In doing that, his blood pressure is going so low that right now, they are trying to find a good balance in removing the fluids but not impact his blood pressure as much. We are so thankful for all of your help with donations. Every little bit helps as they try to navigate through this scary time. I will keep all of you posted on his progress.
