Donate to help replace my photography gear

Donation protected
Hi, I am a photojournalist, filmmaker, and activist and I need to replace my photo camera gear.

My name is Hong Sar, I am a Burmese refugee. I started a new life in the US with my family after fleeing the military regime in Burma/Myanmar in the spring of 2021. I had to leave everything behind, including all my camera gear, which was my means of a career as a photojournalist and photographer.

This GoFundMe campaign is to restart my photography here in the US, as a way to support my family here as we assimilate into American Culture and the refugee community.

This GoFundMe campaign is for basic camera equipment to get me set up to take on photo and video work opportunities that I am already being asked to do for Postindustrial Media, and other NGO outlets, and for a personal project I am undertaking to document the refugee experience in the greater Pittsburg area. I have also been working with Off Ramp Films, since the moment I got off the plane to document my adjustment to life here. I will use this new gear to shoot video for this project too.

More about me, Hong Sar:
Hong Sar took portraits at an event hosted by our company for a nonprofit we support, Team Zubair. It was the first time we brought together volunteers, grantees, and donors in person. Hong Sar captured this celebratory event with sensitivity and depth. I would strongly recommend him for portraiture, editorial photography, and event photography. -Kimberly Palmiero -- CEO & Editor-in-Chief, Postindustrial Media
