Donate to help Reneta Funk and her family

My godmother, Reneta Funk, has been a pivotal part of the Poolesville community for the last 40 years. She has worked at Poolesville Baptist Church for 16 years, ran the Poolesville Senior Center for 6 years, and helped raise many children in the community, including myself! If that weren’t enough, she took care of my mother, Darby Cortijo, while she was sick with Dementia. For years she spent every hour off work, from the evening into the early morning, comforting my mother, spending time with her to make her laugh, even in the worst circumstances, all while being my rock throughout high school. As one of the most selfless, kind-hearted people I know, it's very difficult to see her fall into such a terrible situation.
On July 5th, 2023 her daughter Ashley had a devastating car accident, totaling Reneta's car which had been paid off years prior, and leaving Ashley in the hospital for 2 months with broken bones and critical brain injuries. For the past two years, Reneta has been taking care of Ashley, with her permanent brain and bodily injuries, as well as raising her grandson. She’s managing Ashley's doctor appts, lawyers, and multiple state programs in order to find the best care for Ashley's future. Reneta is still working as well. She is handling all of this but has fallen on financially difficult times.
She is running behind on all of her bills and is in danger of losing their only vehicle. This donation will help her to pay off her car, the only vehicle that they have for the family, as well as help her catch up on rent and other bills she is behind on. Any amount would help. If we can all come together, as a community, for such an important family and help Reneta out, it would be truly amazing! Please give what you can.
