On August 7th, our good friend Tariq Ahmad was arrested after a dispute with his landlord. This is his first offense, and many people can verify his quiet, kind demeanor and the injustice he is experiencing. Many of his neighbors have given statements about the unjust treatment by the landlord and Seattle PD. We were able to obtain an excellent attorney who understands the importance of the injustices and impact a Black man faces in our judicial system. We are asking the community to help aid Tariq in his mounting legal fees, with every dollar of the donation going directly to aid in his freedom and path to recovery.

Tariq Ibn Abdur-Rasheed Ahmad, grew up in New Jersey, in a loving home to his mother Saleemah Nurid-din and Father, Abdur-Rasheed Ahmad.

A smart, friendly, open-minded kid, Tariq loved to play outside, socialize with friends and was very involved in community outreach. He received an excellent education, excelling in math and sciences. He is a very family-originated man and was devested by the loss of his father in 2008.

Tariq went on to graduate with a degree in Civil Engineering from Rutgers University, and prior to COVID was working in several leading industries, as well as creating spaces for BIPOC artists and activists to thrive.
