Raines is an energetic, fun loving, almost 2 year old little boy. He is also a proud big brother to his 6 month old little sister Reid.

In December 2022 Raines was diagnosed with Bilateral Retinoblastoma (a cancerous tumor that grows in the retina) The Simonsen family had a long road ahead of them with multiple trips back and forth to Duke almost weekly. After 6 rounds of intra-venous chemotherapy and also direct intra-arterial chemotherapy the tumors in his eyes had regressed.

Over the last few weeks, Raines started feeling unwell and this brought the Simonsen family back to Duke for more tests. The tests revealed that the cancer had spread to his brain and spine. While so much is uncertain, the Simonsen family has an even tougher road ahead of them now. Raines is in the process of a more intense treatment plan that will include chemotherapy, stem cell replacement and possible radiation.

Your support and prayers will greatly help Hayes and Micah with medical expenses, transportation costs, meals and all the other unknowns as they face challenges with this new diagnosis.
