Hello community! As we all know, the Covid pandemic impacted all of us in different ways. Our friend Noemi Raygoza who has been a PVUSD elementary teacher for 16 years and the mother of a 10-year-old boy is a long Covid survivor. In the winter of 2020, she contracted Covid and the days that followed were days of incredible illness, many visits to urgent care due to rare conditions that started to develop in her body. Noemi experienced severe neurological issues which impeded her from being able to walk and limited the use of her hands. She was unable to return to work for more than a year which has put a financial burden and her elderly parents have been caring for her. She has been to numerous doctors, including Stanford Medical. The Doctors have concluded that it could be a condition known as small fiber neuropathy. This condition triggers sensitivity of the nerves, which causes a lot of pain in the affected areas. In April 2021, her condition got a little better and Noemi was able to return to teaching with the use of a wheelchair and other modifications. However, recently her condition has worsened and has spread to her arms and legs causing difficulty to sit down and suffering from severe pain causing disruption in her sleep and quality of life.

Since there is no treatment or cure for this condition, Noemi is now seeking regenerative medicine as a last resource. These treatments consist of ozone and oxygen therapy, stem cells along with amino acid injections to help reset the function of her cells. The goal of these treatments is to eliminate the pain so that she is able to return to work in August. These treatments are not covered by health insurance and are very costly. To cover this expense, Noemi needs at least $15,000.

Noemi has given so much of herself to her community, family, and friends and now we are asking her community to help us raise funds for her treatment. We thank you from the bottoms of our hearts and please know that no contribution is too small.

Sincerely,
Cecilia, Veronica, Margarita, and Juliana
