Hi, my name is Alex. As many of you may know by now my husband, Zak, was in a near fatal accident on 5/13/2022. He has been in the hospital since, and is looking at spending weeks, if not months, hospitalized due to the traumatic injuries he has suffered. To say a lot has hit our plates at once is an understatement. He has had to have multiple surgeries over the span of a week to piece back together the multiple bones across his body that have been shattered, as well as repair his bladder that was punctured in multiple places. He has extremely limited use of his right arm, no use of his left, his pelvis and left hip were both shattered, he cannot walk, and won’t be able to learn how to walk again until his multiple other injuries are healed. At the time of the accident we had a 4 week old at home (now 6 weeks). Zak has not been able to see his baby since the accident, and won’t be able to see him until he comes home, and we don’t know how long until he’ll be able to hold him again. This accident has completely turned our lives upside down. I was healing from a traumatic labor, and now I’m tending to a newborn and traveling back and forth to be there for my husband as often as I can. Also during this time my body attacked itself and I had to have emergency surgery to remove an overly distended gallbladder that was effecting my liver, our plates are over flowing and now we are here… asking for help. I was supposed to go back to work during this time, but am unable, so now bills are piling up on top of everything else. I’m traveling over 150 miles round trip to visit Zak, and paying over $6.19 a gallon on top of that. I no longer produce milk due to stress and time away from the little one, so we are also having to find formula during the shortage, which is another added expense we were not planning on and another terrifying and heartbreaking task on its own. Any donations received will help to feed our baby, pay for travel expenses to see Zak, and help with small bills accruing. We appreciate any and all help beyond words.
