PLEASE GO TO UPDATES TAB FOR SEPTEMBER 2026 NEWS!!

The Prospect Park Colony is one of the best feral cat colonies in NYC.

The safe space for this colony

was established in 2012 as part of a city-wide feral cat initiative supported by the passing of NYC Local Law #59 and signed into law by the NYC Council & Mayor Bloomberg.

This law established protection for all feral cats in New York as well as protection of managed cat colonies.

Here are two of our winter shelters donated by the ASPCA.

HELLO FRIENDS!!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR GENEROSITY AND SUPPORT FOR OUR PROSPECT PARK COLONY!!!

WINTER OUTREACH.

Weather is challenging but all cats are doing well and enjoying their meals snow! We’ve continued to stuff new straw into all shelters and added new protected feeding stations so they can enjoy meals out of the wind and rain and snow!

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SUPPORTED OUR LITTLE FAMILY! WE WERE GRATEFUL TO HAVE MET OUR SUMMER CAMPAIGN GOAL AND APPRECIATE ALL WHO JOINED OUR TEAM!

WE RELY SOLELY ON PRIVATE DONATIONS EVEN THOUGH THE ASPCA, PROSPECT PARK ALLIANCE and THE MAYOR’S ALLIANCE FOR NYC ANIMALS JOINED TOGETHER IN 2012 TO ESTABLISH THE COLONY AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO EUTHANIZING FERAL CAT FAMILIES, ALL COSTS ARE COVERED BY DONATIONS.

THANK YOU!!!!❣️❣️

THANKS SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SUPPORTED OUR COLONY!

Hello!! My name is Johanna, animal lover & friend to all 4 leggeds ‼️ TNR licensed, cat & dog & raccoon rescuer!

Park Slope Colony established with the ASPCA & Prospect Park Alliance in 2012 needs your support! Working closely with the community and the Prospect Park Alliance, we established this feral cat colony to address the rampant illness, overpopulation and general well being of over 30 feral colony cats.

Since 2012, we TNR'd all colony cats and have been able to adopt out many as they became more social and familiar with our feeders. We are down to 12 colony cats!

Prospect Park Feral Cat Management Program - Official Letter

We hope to continue to socialize and find homes for the remaining cats however this takes time and a coordinated strategy. Meanwhile, we aim to keep our friends healthy, happy and winterproofed during this winter season!

Morning feeding!!!

I added a few new videos at the bottom of this post 15+ colony cats who have been TNR'd (trapped, neutered, released) and live happily at an approved location in the park.

I provide shelters, daily feeding, flea & tic protection & vet visits when needed.

New strays and new kittens have increased costs, I anticipate spending at least $500 in vetting, medical supplies for the many newbies as well as our resident 12!

Last week we TNR’d this pregnant feral
