Lung Transplant
Donation protected
Teresa has faced numerous challenges in her life, triumphing over both breast cancer and cervical cancer. However, she now confronts a new obstacle in the form of interstitial lung disease, a condition characterized by the hardening and scarring of the lungs. This condition can be caused by various autoimmune diseases and drugs used in cancer treatment. Though the precise cause of Teresa's condition is unknown, after receiving treatment for the past 4 years, her only hope for recovery is a bilateral lung transplant.
The recovery process for any form of transplant is lengthy, and Teresa will need to spend time near Duke Hospital in Durham, NC as she recuperates. The initial months are particularly critical, requiring an environment away from the general public due to her extremely compromised immune system. She will be prescribed immunosuppressant drugs, which will leave her vulnerable to infections that the average person would be able to fight off, but she will not. Therefore, the funds raised through this effort will support Teresa's medical and living expenses as she recovers and adjusts to her new life as a transplant recipient.
We are dedicated to providing support for her recovery by offering merchandise and organizing fundraisers. Your donations or purchase of products created by the Lotharp family would make a meaningful difference in her journey to recovery.
Thank you for your support and generosity.
