This story has been written by Kelly, Jayne's sister - in collaboration with my two nieces Neve and Abbie
Hi everyone, we’d hugely appreciate it if you could take some time to read about our gorgeous mam, Jayne's story. Any donations would be massively appreciated - we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We are Neve and Abbie - our mam was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2023, we were told pretty much straight away that it was stage 3 as it had spread to her lymph nodes, she’s undergone surgery, chemotherapy & radiotherapy. On the 31st October the same year our mam rang the bell - as you can imagine it was one of the best days seeing her do that, it felt like the biggest accomplishment after what she had been through! We celebrated as a family, hoping that the worst was over
Fast forward to 15th January 2024 she quickly became very unwell, we took her to A&E which resulted in us finding out she had septic shock & pneumonia due to her Hickman line being left in after chemotherapy - once again she fought that off with everything she had in her, spending just short of a month in hospital & a week in ICCU.
After initially having a lumpectomy 2023, our mam has now had a mastectomy because the cancer returned and further surgery in the same area to remove any remaining tissue. Despite this radical operation the cancer has still managed to find a way back and we are absolutely devastated about this. Following CT scans and further appointments we have now sadly been told that her cancer has spread so it’s now stage 4. This means it’s no longer curable, only manageable. There is some treatment available which if effective will be able to keep it at bay and prolong her life for as long as possible. All we can do is hope and pray it works, without hope what do you have?
Our mam is the absolute backbone to our family, bringing us up as a single parent from our births until she married Brian in 2010, juggling working full time and caring for us - she’s the glue and she means the absolute world to every single person she’s ever met. The impact she has on people day to day in life, friendships, family & work is nothing short of unbelievable and that just says everything you need to know about her as a person. She’s the most kind hearted, warmest, generous person I’ve ever met and if you’ve ever been lucky to have even had a 1 minute chat with her you’ll totally agree.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise as much money as possible, we are initially saying £4000 is our target but the specialist treatment she may need is in another country and costs £40,000. While we wait to see if NHS treatment will work there are other expensive supplements she is trying, self funded. Along with not being able to work as much as she could previously this means financially this is a struggle. Our main hope for this fundraiser is to have something as backup incase the treatment provided by the NHS doesn’t work but it will also help towards day to day extra expenses. We will do anything we can to save our mam and give her the best life possible
As well as this fundraiser we are also getting businesses involved in our local area to raise additional funds. If you are a business in the North East of England and would like to get involved please let us know
We are looking forward to keeping you all updated with our progress as time goes on - hopefully smashing our target and beyond!
Thanks to everyone for reading, we know times are hard and so if a donation isn’t possible please consider telling your friends about her or sharing our link on social media
Best wishes
Neve, Abbie and the rest of our family
