I'm Billie King, owner of Blacos Soul Tacos & Sloppy Joes. (Include a photo of me with the truck when I first got it). I used to haul my entire setup, including the grill, deep fryer, fridge, and more, in my small Infiniti to feed people. It was a one-person operation, incredibly hard work. But this year, all that hard work paid off, and I was blessed with a food truck.
I put in extra hours at the day job to be able to customize it, making it a representation of both the food and my personality. As a former hip-hop artist, I wanted to pay homage to my roots. That's why my slogan is "Come Taste The Flavors of Hip-Hop." It embodies my love for food and my upbringing as an 80's baby immersed in hip-hop culture.

It was time to feed the people and I did with enjoyment. But in just five months, as my business gained momentum and loyal customers, on September 1st around 7:30 pm, a car struck my sister and me while we were parked in service. I was thrown to the ground, and everything came crashing down on top of me. I suffered a severe burn on my left arm from 400-degree oil spilling on me, while my sister broke her leg in two places.
Although my arm was burned and I was in pain, I cried for my sister. She did not feel like coming that night. but she knew I needed the help.
The woman who hit us was distracted by her phone and lost control, ending up under the truck, miraculously uninjured.
Unfortunately, my insurance only covers medical expenses when the vehicle is in motion, not when parked in service. (If you have a food truck please watch for that exclusion in your policy) We're currently pursuing her insurance, but it's a lengthy process.
We're in need of financial assistance for more immediate medical attention and to recover some losses. Any help, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.
