Donate to help Akwasi cross the finish line for Med School

This fundraiser is made on behalf of Akwasi (Osborn) Berko who attends Saint James School of Medicine and has completed 50% of medical school as a full time student. After completing his Step 1 exam, he had to step away to make ends meet, but he was invited to start his 3rd year by December 2024, and has been confirmed for March 2025.

Despite facing the daunting challenges of medical school, Akwasi has chosen to prioritize the needs of others more times than we can count. He serves as a leader to his community by supporting peers and friends across the world through faith while also choosing to live selflessly to support his sisters and mother when they need him the most.

Now, as Akwasi approaches the final stages of his medical education, we have the opportunity to support the vision of someone that embodies love, kindness, compassion and integrity--the type of character that we need to see more in medical doctors.

Why should you donate?

Akwasi, needs our help to finish his degree. He will need to move from Canada to Chicago to complete clinical rotations. Because of this unique educational path as an international student, he faces significant financial challenges. It is very difficult to secure a student loan or a line of credit from lenders due to the medical school being based in the Caribbean. The school also does not provide scholarships. Your donation will directly support his living expenses and help him complete his clinical rotations in the United States.
