Hi, my name is Rosemary Terrell , my husband Derek Terrell had Open Heart surgery on February 26, 2024 because of Aortic stenosis . It ended up being a 6 hour surgery and was worse than they originally thought . He was took to CVICU after 6 hours, then he has a stroke and they rushed him into OR to get the blood clot removed from his brain . First day he in CVICU with two chest tubes , outside pacemaker and central lines, catheter . He on strong pain meds ,and 5 other medications . They tried to put NG tube in place so he can have nutrients he needs ended up aspirating and struggling to breath . Now he getting a G-tube put in possible Tuesday . He can't move much and has been really depressed . He had countless swallowing test done, CT daily checking for blood clots and check for changes in the brain. He has spinal stenosis so with him being none mobile it causing him so much pain and depression. The stroke has effected his whole left side and is unable to walk or use his left hand and mouth . He has a LOT of therapy to do once we can get his lungs to work efficiently .He has also needed blood and glucose checked daily. . He has a very long road ahead of him and they said month or more just in the hospital With Derek being out of work and being the main provider this has put a financial strain on us . We have 8 year old son with asberger syndrome at home . Trying to run hour to and from home is so much alone not counting food and bills that are coming due.

Update: Derek is still in ICU and trying get his nutrition up and get blood thinners just right levels . He is non mobile on left side and hoping when he gets to rehabilitate he will gain a lot of his mobility in it . Only time will tell.
