​ The Accident and The Loss

​Hi everyone, my name is Olia, and I am facing a major crisis after losing my only reliable mode of transportation.

​On October 26th, my car, a 2005 Ford Escape, was tragically totaled in a single-vehicle accident. I was alone, and thankfully, no one else was involved, and I was not seriously injured. However, the damage was catastrophic, and the car is gone.

​This car wasn't just a vehicle; it was essential for my life. I use it every day to get to my work to support my travels, and it was my key to exploring the incredible national parks and trails around Mt. Shasta. Without it, I am currently unable to reliably get to work, which has put a huge strain on my ability to earn a living.

​ The Insurance Reality

​I know many people assume insurance will cover this, and I wish that were the case. Due to financial constraints, I only carried the legally required Liability Insurance.

​Liability insurance only covers the damage I cause to others. Because this was a single-vehicle accident and I didn't hit anyone or anything that belonged to another person, my policy provides zero coverage for the damage to my own car. This means I am responsible for the entire financial loss and the cost of replacing my vehicle.

​ The Goal: A Fresh Start

​I am not asking for a handout, but for a hand up. My goal is to raise $7,500 to purchase a modest, reliable used car—something like a used Honda CR-V or Subaru Forester (to handle the mountain roads) or a simple, efficient car like a used Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla—that will safely get me back on the road.

​This money will cover:

​$6,500: The cost of a basic, safe, used replacement vehicle.

​$1,000: Necessary fees like sales tax, registration, license plates, and initial insurance costs.

​Every donation brings me one mile closer to regaining my independence and being able to reliably earn a living and continue my passion for exploring the beautiful region I call home.
