As you know, our dear friend Nuri was diagnosed with hormone positive breast cancer in late 2021. Through excellent medical treatment from her team of doctors at Sutter Health, she is now cancer-free! As part of her adjuvant treatment, Nuri has been getting shots every month to stop production of estrogen. Her doctors regularly monitor her hormone levels and unfortunately it appears her estrogen levels are too high and there is concern about risk for recurrence. To address this, Nuri will have a partial hysterectomy this Thursday to remove her ovaries, which will stop the production of estrogen.

While her doctors insist this is the right course of action, at this time her insurance is refusing to cover the cost. She's facing a $10K out-of-pocket medical bill for the surgery, on top of thousands of dollars in ultrasounds and tests she's already paid over the past few months. As a single mom, with two kids and two moves this year, this has obviously led to significant financial stress for her.

Nuri is reluctant to ask for help, especially given the generosity of this community back in 2022, but it's clear she should be focused on healing right now, not medical bills. I know many folks are pinched financially at this time of the year, but any support, no matter how small, would mean so much to her.
