Hello Supporters!
I am taking out my original story and replacing it with Nick's obituary below as it is such a perfect story of the man we all loved so much.
On behalf of Nina Miernecki and Moyra thank you for all the support,
Mandy Ketcheson and Ruby Ann Meawasige

Surrounded by love and light and some T. Rex music, our gentle giant Nick bid us a quiet farewell.
He was the sweet prince to Nina and the super hero daddi-o to Moyra who was the brightest light in his heart. He was our glam and punk music lover, DC Universe fanboy, theme park enthusiast and Godzilla geek with the heartiest and biggest belly laugh that would shake a room.

Much loved son of Chrisoula and Evangelos and big brother to Alex, who are all together once again. They are drinking ouzo or Black Tower and rolling in laughter while listening to the retelling of the story of the “Great Snake” which somehow got more animated as the years passed. Anyone who was lucky enough to hear this wonderful story, this was just one of many that the family shared every time they gathered for spirited conversations and an enormous amount of food.

Born in Germany, Nick’s family landed in Canada with him in tow and became Scarborough proud. He made his way into the film and television community over 34 years ago when an opportunity landed in his lap and he just never looked back. The wonderful friendships that spanned over those years were an absolute joy to him and he spoke often fondly of all of you and this is where he let loose that memorable laugh.

During his quietest moments, Nick was a soulful writer and his poetry was often shared with others over a sip of bourbon or a wee dram of scotch. He loved watching his girl play softball throughout the years and even volunteered his time “dad” coaching and helping to set up the softball diamonds in the early mornings at Topham Park which he considered his second home. Also, just to be first in line when they lit the BBQ on game days.

We were so lucky to have had this kind and generous man in our lives and he will be missed by all who knew him.
One of Nick’s passions was to ensure that all kids are given a chance to play sports, have access to equipment, a ride to a training facility or a game, own a musical instrument, get up on stage or behind the stage, write their first screenplay or graphic novel.

Please find an organization that will distribute sports gear or instruments to these kids or make a donation so they can continue to shine.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Let’s raise a two finger scotch salute and remember to leave your tissues at home, because he loved to see all of you laugh.
