Hello! My name is Marbod Faure, I am 19 years old, and I am a first-year student at the NYU Film School. Storytelling has been with me my entire life, and I could not think of anything else to do with myself than make cool stuff and tell fun tales with my friends. I am hard-working, dedicated, and willing to do everything for my craft.
The movie does not yet have a name, but the logline goes as follows:
A group of at-risk young adults are sent to a Christian poetry retreat in rural Massachusetts for people suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts. After meeting the youth pastor and the other patients, our protagonist Matthew participates in an evening of activities, prayer and discussion with his new friends, interrupted by a brutal snowstorm that leaves our protagonists stranded on the farm with no contact with modern society. However, they are not alone, as a folkloric witch's spirit attacks the complex, determined to gain new followers and convert the young Christians into worshipping her. This story of belief and mental health questions the meaning of hope, agency, and their intrinsic link with what it means to be human. My movie begs the question: Would you sacrifice your humanity for god-like self-control and free, “radical” will?
The money donated would be spent in two different ways:
- Production: the most significant section of the budget would go into equipment essential to the movie: renting a camera, buying cables, lights, batteries, a mic boom, etc.
- Art Design: some of the money would be put into the actual aesthetic of the film: costume for the witch, eye contacts, fake blood, makeup, props and so forth. This will help make the final product look as beautiful as possible and keep our actors safe.
