My dad, Retired Marine Sgt. Shadrack Harper (better known as Opie) had a stroke on March 17, 2022. He suffered a Hematoma stroke from a dissection of the carotid artery due to an injury he received on active duty over ten years ago. He is currently on a feeding tube because the stroke affected his ability to swallow and walk, and he has no feeling of pain on his entire left side. Doctors are pretty optimistic that he will regain all functions, but it will be a long road. My mom Lee Anne has been by his side the entire time and is currently with him from 9-5 every day at rehab, learning how to care for my dad and help him with his therapy. I can see that my mom is stressed and worried, trying to figure things out. She has to be my dad’s permanent caregiver right now, and her leave is ending soon. My dad cannot work for the time being until he recovers fully. My dad is always is to help anyone in need with no hesitation, and my dad would never ask for help, but in this situation, my family needs help. This has been one of my family's biggest challenges, and it would be greatly appreciated if someone could help my family; even just a tiny amount can help my family tremendously.
