My brother’s story is one of unimaginable resilience. When he was just 13 years old, he was diagnosed with a rare form of Ewing’s sarcoma. He bravely battled cancer for five long years, enduring intense treatments that saved his life but left him permanently disabled.
Today, he is 43 years old and cancer-free, but the lasting effects of those treatments have taken a severe toll on his body. He lives in chronic pain, with organ issues, one leg significantly shorter than the other, and extensive bone damage—his hip and the top of his femur have deteriorated. He has always relied on crutches to walk.
Despite all of this, he faces every day with incredible strength and determination. However, his mobility is limited, and he is not able to wear normal shoes. He has worn the same customized shoes for many years. The specialized orthopedic shoes he desperately needs would be life-changing, allowing him to walk more comfortably, further and in less pain. His current shoes are worn out, and recent reductions in his disability allowance mean he can no longer afford the custom shoes he was counting on.
I’m traveling back to the UK in March and want to take him to get these shoes personally. With your help, we can give him that opportunity. These shoes won’t just improve his mobility—they’ll offer him a spark of hope and a better quality of life.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will bring us closer to this goal. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
