My name is Patricio Romero and I am writing this to ask for your support for my brother, Diego, and his wife, Catherine.

On Sunday, April 12th , their lives changed in an instant. A devastating house fire swept through their home, leaving behind fire, smoke and water damage. While we are eternally grateful that they are safe, they have been left with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

The loss is overwhelming. In a single afternoon, they lost the foundation of their daily lives: their furniture, their clothing, and the electronics they relied on every day for their work. Beyond the physical items, they are grieving the loss of irreplaceable mementos—those sentimental pieces of a life built together that no amount of money can truly restore.

The path to recovery is steep, and they need to move quickly to regain their stability. Currently, Diego and Catherine have nowhere to live. They are temporary staying at hotel. While they have insurance, the policy is unfortunately limited and will not cover more than a few days of emergency lodging and a small percentage of their belongings lost in the fire.

The funds raised through this campaign will be used for immediate shelter: Securing a temporary Airbnb so they have a safe, quiet place to stay while they search for a new long-term home & essential needs: Replacing lost food, clothing & furniture.

Watching someone you love lose everything is a profound heartbreak, but seeing a community come together provides a glimmer of hope. We understand that these are difficult times for everyone, and any contribution—no matter the size—will go directly toward helping Diego and Catherine rebuild from the ground up.
