Donate to help my 9 yr old son with an excessible porch ramp

Hello my names is Andrea and I am a single mother of 8 children and I am writing to apply for a gofundme to ask for assistance for my 9 year old son Tivontae who has Trisomy 13 a chromosome disorder and he is also visually impaired along with varies other medical conditions.

My son is unable to use his large muscles to walk and is unable to verbalize his needs on a daily basis and requires total care for all his daily living needs. Having a back yard deck with a ramp would reduce significantly a lot of lifting and he would be able to enjoy the weather with family, friends and other people when we are having visits over at our home he can be apart of every function and not be left out by lying on the floor in the house. He will be more mobile, he will be able to keep a lot more active and it would benefit my sons quality of life. Ontario March of Dimes would not pay for the backyard deck because they only cover one entrance into the home and I find that to be very unfair because the ramp that is in our garage cannot get him into the backyard and at the sides of the house it is all stones and grass and we cannot push the wheelchair on the grass therefore having backyard deck with a ramp would make life easier and more accessible with my son and his caregivers and family when handling his total care needs.

Re: Tivontae

Tivontae is a lovely child who has a diagnosis of Patau syndrome, Triosomy 13,

hypoplastic corpus callosum and cerebellar vermis, bilateral severe ophthalmia and

ocular prosthetics, tracheamalacia, single coronary artery and PDA, GERD, bilateral

ulnar polydactyly removed shortly after birth and developmental delay.

Tivontae requires adult assistance for many aspects of daily living including dressing,

toileting, transfers, stair climbing and long distance mobility. Tivontae can walk short

distances with support. Stair climbing is difficult and to increase his independence and safety for himself and his caregivers, several solutions have been discussed and Andrea, his mother would like to pursue a deck and ramp off of the main living area and kitchen to gain safe entry/exit into her main floor area to/from the backyard. Tivontae lives at home with his mother and 7 other children, and Andrea she is a single mother with many competing priorities including financial needs. The outcome of not doing this modification is that Tivontae will not have a safe or accessible way to get out to the backyard and enjoy this area with his family.

Andrea has received several quotes for a back porch and ramp to support Tivontae’s

goals to be safe entering/exiting their home. Please consider this essential piece of equipment for Tivontae and his family.

With the cost of materials and labour everything is very difficult but with the help of this gofundme would make a Hugh difference in my sons life and this will be a long term investment because as he grows and develops have an excessible home would benefit him long term and can eventually life on his own with supports as long as he has all the equipment and needs to mobilize insane out of his home l.
