Hello friends,

My name is Clarence, a writer + poet. I relocated from the Caribbean to the United States to attend graduate school and continue my academic journey as a writer and educator.

A lot has changed since I arrived in 2021. Due to the political climate, coupled with the harmful rhetoric aimed at immigrants, America has become hostile and very unsafe. To preserve my own dignity as a human being and to protect my mental health, I feel it is best that I exit the country.

This decision did not come easy. I am grateful for the opportunity I have had over the past four (4) years to study and contribute to my community and the country at large through my work in academia and my engagement in my local community. I am inspired and remain committed to the work of building a more peaceful and inclusive world.

My reason for creating this campaign of support is that my work authorization expired in June of this year. Since I have not been able to work, I have relied mostly on my savings, which have since been depleted.

Your generous donations will help significantly with relocation expenses. I have given myself a 15-day window to raise the funds I need to safely exit the country and avoid any legal trouble with the US government.
