Help Survive and Fight Discrimination

Introduction
Hi, my name is Tim, and I’m reaching out because I’ve been forced into an overwhelming legal, financial, and mental health crisis after being wrongfully terminated by my former employer, Canada Life.

This isn’t just about losing a job — it’s about surviving corporate retaliation, ableism, and psychological harm that has taken a massive toll on my body, mind, and family. I am now fighting to hold this billion-dollar corporation accountable while struggling to afford the basic medical care required to keep me alive and stable.

My Story
I worked as a Claims Processor at Canada Life while navigating multiple disabilities: Autism, ADHD, CPTSD, anxiety, and depression. Despite full disclosure and an approved IAP (Individual Accommodation Plan), I faced escalating mistreatment, micromanagement, and was pressured to meet arbitrary metrics without regard for my health.

When I followed HR’s advice and filed a formal discrimination complaint about my manager’s conduct, I was terminated shortly afterward. Canada Life initially told me it was due to “excessive absenteeism” — but then listed “terminated without cause” on my Record of Employment to avoid legal responsibility.

They then withheld part of my severance unless I signed an Employee Release Form — which would prevent me from suing or speaking publicly. I refused.

Their tactics — from gaslighting to financial starvation — were clearly meant to exhaust me into silence. But I won’t stay silent.

Why I Need Help
Due to this situation, I’ve lost access to vital medications (Concerta and Fluoxetine) and have suffered physical and psychological relapses:
• Panic attacks, memory issues, muscle tremors
• Weight loss, extreme fatigue, and sleep disruption
• Ongoing dissociation, rage episodes, and depressive spirals
• Missed medical appointments, including psychiatric reassessments
• Chronic pain and inflammation without access to physio or therapy
• Falling behind on rent and bills while caring for three children

My condition is deteriorating and I’m struggling to function. I urgently need to pay for medical documentation, legal counsel, and therapy — all of which are prohibitively expensive.

What This Fight Represents
This isn’t just about me. Canada Life profited $3.2 billion last year. They post about DEI and “supporting neurodiversity” while silencing and discarding disabled employees behind the scenes.

Their strategy is clear:
• Weaponize “support” to avoid liability
• Gaslight and micromanage disabled workers
• Offer silence money when caught
• Bet on us being too sick, poor, or broken to fight

I’m determined to prove them wrong — for myself, my children, and every disabled worker they’ve harmed.

Update: Human Rights Commission Confirms Violation

I wanted to give a major update on where things stand. The Manitoba Human Rights Commission has officially confirmed that Canada Life violated my rights under Section 14 of the Human Rights Code.

After months of pain, silence, and trying to survive while navigating medical and legal hell — this is a major step forward. The Commission has accepted my complaint and acknowledged that I was discriminated against because of my disabilities (Autism, ADHD, CPTSD, Anxiety, Depression).

This is validation — but the fight is far from over.

What They Did

Canada Life fired me while I was in the middle of a documented health crisis. They:
• Denied my accommodations and IAP after approving them.
• Micromanaged me, ignored my medical needs, and wrote me up for things caused by my conditions.
• Retaliated when I reported the abuse — I was terminated shortly after filing a formal complaint.
• Tried to force me to sign a gag order in exchange for part of my severance.
• Played psychological games to exhaust me into silence.

I refused to be silent.

What This Has Cost Me

Since then, I’ve lost access to therapy, medications, and medical appointments. I’m still experiencing:
• Muscle tremors, memory problems, and panic attacks
• Inflammation and untreated pain from stress
• Financial collapse — struggling to keep food on the table for my kids

Despite all of this, I’ve stayed in the fight. Because this isn’t just about me — it’s about everyone like me who’s been mistreated behind closed doors by companies that pretend to support mental health and neurodiversity in public.

️ Why I Still Need Your Help

I urgently need to:
• Hire a forensic psychiatrist to assess the full impact on my mental health
• Secure legal counsel to escalate this and prepare for potential class action
• Pay for ongoing therapy, chiropractic care, and medications
• Cover bills and basic survival costs for my family
