Please help me stay afloat during emergency.

Let me start by saying, I wouldn’t ask for help if it wasn’t an emergency situation.

I think anybody that follows me even a little bit knows my Mom suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease and I had no choice but to put her in a nursing home in April of 2021, both for her own safety and quality of life (they can do more to help her there than I ever could). What a lot of people don’t know is that I lived with my Mom up until I had to put her in assisted living. With Mom in a nursing home, I am on my own now. Obviously, the nursing home takes nearly all of her monthly Social Security check (understandably) for her room and board. I am lucky enough to have a job that offered a 401k that has been keeping me afloat since April of 2021. I was not really prepared for Mom’s condition to deteriorate as fast as it did. When Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2018, knowing it would be extremely difficult for me to work full-time given my mental health and -to a much larger extent- my physical issues with partial paralysis on my right side and muscular atrophy, also on the right side as a result of the partial paralysis, I decided to apply for Social Security Disability. It’s an extremely lengthy process that is still ongoing to this day, and they won’t have a decision on my case until next April at the earliest. I have a bunch of medical evidence and a lawyer, but even that is no guarantee I will be granted benefits. According to my math, my 401k will be used up by March of 2023 (all of my 401k goes to rent). I continue to work because even with my issues, I know I can still work part time. I absolutely need my health insurance and I need every penny I can get, but there is a VERY STRICT cap on money you can earn monthly while applying for and/or receiving disability benefits. Even if I am awarded benefits, I have no plans to stop working and plan to keep my work schedule as is because I like my job and I absolutely have to have my health insurance for my anxiety/depression medication or I would be hospitalized within days. As far as the physical aspects of my health go, my doctor says my conditions will only worsen as I get older. As it stands now, I clear about $85 a week. My 401k is the only thing keeping me from being evicted from my apartment. I am the beneficiary of my Mom’s life insurance policy, but I can not touch that until she passes away (and I’d rather be homeless than have her pass away. I obviously want her to live as long as possible). As it would with anybody who cares about their parents, when my Mom eventually passes away it will take a devastating toll on my mental health, but I will cross that bridge when I get there. I ask for your help so I can have some piece of mind knowing I will have enough money to pay rent for a while after my 401k runs out and I can continue to visit my Mom as much as I can without having to worry about being evicted from my apartment. Hopefully my Social Security Disability case is decided in my favor early next year, but as of now, I have no choice but to have patience and wait it out.

There have been quite a few people that have helped me already, I have not forgotten. I am grateful for your help and support. If I get to even one fourth of my goal, it would be a tremendous help. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Feel free to share this with your friends or social media networks if you want.

Update as of 1/23/23: My case is in the hands of the Federal Court now, but it might not be reviewed until the end of the year. Please, share if you can. Thank you to all who have helped me so far. It means so much.

Thank you,
Dennis.
