Hi , my name is David and I'm here fundraising to help my family and I move from London to Fishguard to live the rest of what I have left in my life by the sea and to give my 9 year old son some of the best memories I can while I'm alive.

Also with my story I hope to raise awareness of a silent killer that most men neglect .

I'm 46 years old and was suffering from what I thought at the time was sciatica . My profession was a cleaner so back pain etc is part and parcel of the job at times. This went on for a time until my partner , a truly remarkable women , dragged me into A&E where I was rushed into the Acute medical unit. I received a blood transfusion of four bags of blood and felt much better. Then lots of other tests and bloods taken and scans after scans.

The next morning the doctor came into me , drew my curtain and said "I'm sorry " . Confused I asked sorry about what. He then told me , there and then without any support for me what so ever that I have stage 4 prostate cancer.Shocked to say the least I was speechless.

It wasn't until I had my biopsy that I was told I had an average life expectancy of 3-4 years only.

I have since started my treatment(7th September 2023) in an attempt to prolong my life as much as I can which involves chemotherapy injections and alot of pills.The cancer has spread into my lymph nodes and skeleton . As a result pain is now my constant companion and fatigue limits to how much or how long I can stay out .

My family is great and we decided to keep no secrets from my 9 year old boy . It broke my heart but I had to remain strong. I think he also had the same idea to be strong but he is always researching cancer and how to cure me. He came to me with a list of foods I must eat :-) .

Of course we can't be rocks all the time and in the night while I'm still awake I hear the sobs from my family , when they think no one can hear.

The funds raised will be used to help us move to Fishguard. Our families are helping us with some of the money and the goal is to raise enough with our families help also to have a family home and not some mold infested flat we rent presently . To have a place of loving memories and hopefully to enable my partner to become my full time carer . As it is now I can't get into the bath for a shower without help or shower myself properly for that matter. Making a cup of tea is a challenge as my legs give out at times so i need walking stick 24/7.

To sum it up I would be grateful for any help in achieving my goal of spending as much quality time with the people I love with the time frame I have left .
