Hi, my name is Carter and I’m raising funds to purchase a much needed new wheelchair. My wheelchair is how I interact with the world, and my current one no longer fulfils my needs. It has been very difficult to secure sufficient funding through statutory bodies, and this has delayed the process, so much so that I am worried that if my wheelchair breaks, I would not be able to get out of bed which would have an adverse effect on my health (physically, emotionally and socially).

I’m a 23 year old, interested in film editing, politics, chess and video games. I have a neuromuscular condition (Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2) and my wheelchair is my only form of independence. My current wheelchair enables me to visit Wimbledon tennis, American football matches, visiting exhibitions around London, visiting the cinema, walking dogs at the park, interacting with my local community etc.

There are so many barriers I face in accessing the things I wish to do, and so any contribution, however small, would make a world of a difference to me.
