Hello my name is Kirsten and I need your help!

Next year I want to travel to Portugal to volunteer with The Mighty Roar’s Animal Rescue Programme, and I’m raising funds to support the incredible work they do for abandoned and stray animals in the region.

Across Portugal, countless animals are left to fend for themselves on the streets, many suffering from malnutrition, preventable diseases, and injuries that often go untreated. Without the help of rescue centres, most would never receive the care, safety, and compassion they desperately need.

The Mighty Roar partners with local sanctuaries that work tirelessly to give these animals a second chance but they rely heavily on donations to keep their doors open and their work going.

What the Programme Provides:

• Rescue and emergency care for abandoned and injured animals

• Food, safe shelter, rehabilitation, and socialisation

• Neutering programmes to help reduce the number of strays

• Vaccinations and essential medical treatment

While in Portugal, I’ll be staying at an animal sanctuary where my role will include:

• Feeding and caring for animals who have been rescued from the streets

• Helping with daily enrichment, cleaning, and general welfare

• Assisting with health checks and supporting animals undergoing treatment

• Contributing to rehabilitation and socialisation so they can be rehomed safely

I will be fully funding my own flights, spending money and accommodation so 100% of your help will go to the sanctuary’s work and the animals.

A little about myself:

I am 19 years old and have been studying music at uni for the last 4 years but my dream is to be a zookeeper/zoologist and help conservation. I want to help animals the most I can and that is why I would love to go to Portugal and raise money and help for these animals. Right now it is difficult finding a job and raising all these funds by myself and that is why your help matters the most!
