I am raising funds on behalf of my wife, Megan Smith, to further support MD Anderson, a leading cancer institute based in Houston, Texas, and where Megan was receiving treatment. Unfortunately, we lost Megan on April 6, 2026, after a 3 year battle against colorectal cancer.
MDA is dedicated to cancer care, research, education, and prevention. I have been in touch with their team on how we want this money to be used.
Top on my list is to fund groundbreaking research to discover new treatments. This is near and dear to us because none of the standard drugs worked for Megan. We started phase 1 clinical trial drugs at MDA ~12 months ago, but we were still too soon. The drugs for colorectal cancer were not ready. As I write this in April 2026, I believe advances in data science and computing could significantly accelerate research and shorten the path to improved treatments in the coming years.
The money is tax deductible and is going directly to MD Anderson. I will report back on our final funds and how the money is used in the coming months.
Thank you for your support,
Adam
