My childhood best friend since 4 years old, Matt Lawrence, passed away this morning, April 29, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Jennifer, his wife, and 5 children (Mia-5, Jackson-3 and his 3 step-children ages 10, 12 and 20) were with him these past 2 weeks while in Hospice Care along with his dear parents Mark and Irma and his sister Steph. At the age of 46, Matt found out he had a very rare and aggressive stomach cancer, Signet Ring Gastric Cell Carcinoma. After multiple surgeries and chemotherapy, followed by multiple ER visits, consults with experts at Northwestern and more cancer-related complications, Matt and Jennifer learned there was nothing further that could be done.
He took the news in stride, just like everything in life - he kept quiet, calm, and collected. Matt was always a quiet one, the nice guy and for the most part kept to himself. One thing Matt was, was a loyal and trusted Father, Son, Brother and Friend to those who knew him well. The guy who loved to sit, talk and reminisce was also an avid fisherman. He and his father and sons' favorite break was going up to Wisconsin to fish, relax and enjoy the peace. Now Matt can truly relax and finally have Peace after this brutal fight with a horrible disease. He is gone far, far too soon and will be missed dearly by all of us who loved him.
All funds raised will first go towards his medical bills after lengthy stays in the hospital, countless tests, chemo treatments, surgeries, and more. Next, any remaining funds will go towards his loving wife, Jennifer, and their 5 children for their immediate and future needs.
God Bless you Matt. We Love You and Miss You.
