Master Joseph Salim passed away unexpectedly on April 7, 2022, at the age of 54. We were shocked and devastated by this sudden loss. He was a beloved Taekwondo coach, mentor, colleague, friend, son, brother, uncle, and father. He is truly missed.
For the past several years, Master Salim devoted his talents to his young athletes and students in Eagle Rock, California. He was a great fighter but was still gentle, patient, and kind. He was soft-spoken and serious but had a wry sense of humor. However, to many of us, he was simply…. Our Master Salim.
Please join us in repaying his generosity of spirit by supporting his children in this very difficult time. All the money raised will go directly to his family, his legacy. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated. The oldest daughter, Jasmine Di Angelo, will be receiving the contributions for the children of Master Salim. Some of the contribution may be used to help continue his son's and daughter's education.
Master Salim devoted his life to the sport of Taekwondo as an athlete, coach, and mentor. An accomplished athlete and legend in the sport, he was a 7th-degree taekwondo black belt, 3-time Olympian, 4-time European champion, World Cup Gold medalist, and inductee to the Taekwondo Hall of Fame. He was a successful coach, serving as a USA National Team coach, British Olympic Team Coach, and coach to many other champions. Thank you, Master Joseph Salim, for sharing your life and gift with us. May you rest in peace.
