This was an unexpected situation, with no set date to return home. We have been away from home for 7 weeks so far. We rely on a single income to raise our two year old and new born and being self employed I am not eligible for E.I. Having no money coming in we are coming to the end of our little bit of savings we had. Kai has a blood clot in the ventricles of the brain that has caused a build up of cerebral spine fluid, potentially causing permanent neurological damage, but to what extent remains to be known. He has undergone several invasive procedures to drain the fluid, while we wait for the blood clot to dissolve on its own in hope that Kai will start to drain on his own. He was born in Thunder Bay and immediately transferred to London where he could be cared for.  Kai will likely need a shunt to be installed, although he is making positive progress but this illness is very individualized, no doctor can give us any time line of when we will make it back home. Furthermore he will have to travel from Thunder Bay to London ON on a regular basis to do routine check ups. If you can't donate all I ask is that you share this with your close friends and family.
