Dear Team Martha,

Thank You for your donations and for coming to this site.

May is bringing another fundraising event for our friend, Martha. Please join us at the new Sugarshack in downtown Bonita Springs on Old 41, Saturday, May 24th 12 noon-4pm. They will be holding a benefit for her with live music under their historic oaks. A voluntary cover charge will all go to benefit Martha. If you haven't been there yet, here's your perfect opportunity to enjoy this new venue and do some good.

We want to thank Peter O'Flinn of the Spotlight Magazine for donating a quarter page ad all May announcing the Sugarshack event. We also want to thank David Alpert and his Sugarshack partners for proposing and holding this fundraiser.

Good News

The good news in April was we have achieved two of our fundraising goals. Martha is now sleeping comfortably in her new zero gravity recliner and has paid her property taxes. We want to specifically thank David Nooland and his Relax the Back Store at Coconut Point Mall for the incredible deal they made for her recliner.

We want to thank all of the local businesses and friends who supported the April fundraiser held by the Bonita Springs VFW Post#4254. Beautiful gift baskets, a 50/50 and a clever lottery ticket house made to look like the VFW were raffled. Thank you to all of you who made direct donations both at this site and at the event. Martha has tried to send a thank you note to everyone who she knows has donated and helped her. To those who have donated anonymously, she sends her heartfelt gratitude.

Medical Update

In late April, Martha's husband Bill, drove her to the Miami Cancer Institute where she met with the lead Doctor in their Radiation Oncology Department. The Doctor told Martha she may not be a candidate for proton therapy but said they will collect all of her medical records and ordered a PET scan. He will bring her case to the Institute's Tumor Board to determine if she is eligible for another radiation tool.

So, with her indomitable spirit, Martha is still going to Chemo which her oncologist says is keeping her stable — the primary tumor has not grown.

In June, she will be consulting with the nonprofit Naples Cancer Advisors and with a groundbreaking immunotherapy oncologist in Fort Lauderdale.

So, we still have a long way to go to reach out initial goal but as is said, "Question— How do you eat an elephant? Answer— One bite at a time".

Hi Friends

As some of you may know, she has been fighting Stage 4c Colon Cancer this year. We are fundraising to help Martha pay bills, property taxes, expenses for cancer treatment travel and for a prescribed zero gravity recliner because it's become too painful to sleep in bed.

Many of Martha's friends have been helping care for her at home and take her to chemo. Her husband Bill, has only been able to work part time for the last 9 months so he can care for her. If you know Martha and Bill, they are the last to ask for help and the first to offer it. That is why we are asking you through this fundraiser because they are running out of savings now and need our HELP!!!l

Martha's local VFW and Auxiliary is hosting small fundraisers culminating with a party event on April 19 in which all proceeds will go towards our joint fundraising goal of $20,000.

Martha has spent the majority of her life helping others, starting as a young Brownie Scout raising money for United Cerebral Palsy with her lifelong best friend Debbie, helping many in need through her Lions Club membership, helping veterans causes as a Life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, being a secret Santa for many children on Christmas Eve, serving on City Council, fighting for the local environment and helping many personal friends and strangers when they needed a hand up.

We know if you are a friend of Martha or a friend of a friend of Martha you are also a compassionate person who wants to help Martha win her fight to Cancel Cancer. And if there is anyone who can win that fight we are placing our bets on our friend, Martha.

Her community is a very compassionate one. She know what you can do. She tells us how kind people have been been helping out and offering good vibes and prayers. We ask that you please join us now and donate to our campaign to help Martha, Cancel Cancer..
