Hi,

My name is Marli and i’m fundraising for medical bills due to being a victim of domestic violence.

On the 22nd of March 2025, while travelling overseas in Thailand, my life changed forever.

I was physically assaulted by my ex-boyfriend, resulting in a serious injury to my face, an orbital fracture to my left eye. I was rushed to Bangkok Hospital, where I underwent emergency surgery. A titanium plate was surgically inserted into my orbital bone to repair the damage.

I spent three days alone in a foreign hospital. I had no access to a mobile phone and no way to contact my family or friends to let them know where I was or if I was okay. This was because my ex-partner would not allow me to use a phone, leaving me isolated, frightened, and completely alone at one of the most vulnerable moments of my life.

After returning to Australia, I tried to move forward and rebuild. It has taken time and courage to seek further medical help. I have recently followed up with Australian doctors and orthodontists, who have now confirmed that the impact of the assault caused my jaw to become misaligned. This is now leading to ongoing pain and discomfort, and without treatment, it may worsen.

I have been told I will need realignment of my teeth and jaw to prevent further damage and to relieve the pain I live with daily.

I am currently trying to rebuild my life after being in an abusive relationship for over 12 months. Leaving an abusive partner is not easy, emotionally, physically, or financially. Healing is not just about surviving what happened, but finding the strength and support to move forward.

This fundraiser is not just about medical costs. It is about helping me stand back up after something that nearly broke me. It is about reclaiming my safety, my health, and my future.
