Greetings, we are friends and family of Mandy and her son, Blake.
We are located in the Twin Cities, in a Minneapolis neighborhood that has experienced many disparities, but there are amazing people within this diverse neighborhood. People like Mandy with a kind heart and love for her family. She has had to learn to live with all of who she is, her cognitive disabilities, a single mom, a black woman and what it means to care for a son with autism. She works hard to find ways to provide for herself and her son to have a sustainable, joyful and loving life.
Recently, they have had to leave their current housing because it is becoming unsafe. By God's grace, she has been able to secure new housing, but the affordable/adjusted-rate apartment isn't available for several months. With no other options due to the inequitable, unaffordable housing, she has to accept this housing at more than 2.5x her income.
Mandy and Blake deserve a safe space to live. They deserve to have housing as well as to afford basic necessities too. We hope you will be able to support Mandy and Blake, as we set a goal of covering a minimum of 3 months' rent to give them better success at sustainable living.
Thank you - any gift is greatly appreciated!
