Hi, my name is Bijan Jiany and I am the founder of Ball Lab. My passion is to help people see their own greatness through the sport of basketball. Being a late bloomer in the sport has taught me that anything is possible with hard work, persistence, and determination.
It started with 1 athlete back in 2009 when I was coaching the U13 Boys North Shore Select Team with Basketball BC. That boy didn't make the team but I gave him the opportunity to practice. His dad approached me and asked me to privately train his son. I accepted and the rest is history. I transitioned from being a PE teacher to an entrepreneur/basketball coach. Before the Ball Lab, I had a small studio in West Vancouver (700 sq. ft) for 2 years. I trained people of all ages as a strength and conditioning coach and would split my time there and drop-ins at the West Vancouver Community Centre to teach athletes the fundamentals of basketball. As I grew, I had a bigger vision of wanting to do everything under one roof.
The Ball Lab exists to inspire limitless possibilities and we need your support to improve our basketball court. We opened our doors in 2015 and our floor is worn out to a point where it's getting slippery to play on. We provide basketball services to ages 5 and up and we would like nothing more than a safe and updated floor for our members.
The funds will be used to replace the current floor (polyurethane snap tile) that is directly over top of concrete to a magnetic wood which will add more shock absorption (less impact on athlete's joints) and a non-slippery surface (which will help prevent slipping).
