Hello I'm Sehar, and I'm raising funds for dogs of El Sabanero Yoga Retreat Center in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Macho and Marshmello have lived at El Sab their whole lives and have provided much healing to all the guests that have passed through. they are estimated to be 4-5 years old and are a bonded pair. "Mama and Papa" are their nicknames.

Macho is currently sick and in kidney failure. He's on IV treatment for 2 days to determine whether it is acute or chronic. Either way his prognosis and life expectancy may not be very good. Macho recently suffered from tick fever, which is very common in street dogs in Costa Rica. He was on antibiotics for 30 days but unfortunately did not make improvement in his condition and has regressed into kidney failure.

I am raising funds to help with vet costs. I would also like to bring Mello in for a kidney test and blood test as she may also have contracted tick fever at some point in her life, and even if doesn't have symptoms right now, we may be able to catch things earlier.

Tick fever is very common in dogs here and if it does not kill them within 3 weeks of exposure, it stays subclinical in their system for 1-6 years, and then eventually leads to their death through kidney failure or other organ failure. There is no cure for this terrible disease but we can just prevent or manage it as best as we can. Recommended to test dogs once a year to test their blood.
