Help Lue’s cancer battle & Mu’s stroke recovery
Donation protected
On February 20th 2023, my grandpa Lue Vang (Nchaiv Lwm Vaaj) and my grandma Mu Yang (Mus Yaaj) got into a car accident and were transported to the hospital. A CT Scan was done for my grandpa and was told that he had many lymph nodes and suggested he should see his primary doctor. After the visit with the doctor, they referred him to an Oncologist and performed two biopsies. The second biopsy results came back with my grandpa being positive for T-Cell Lymphoma Cancer stage 4. He started chemotherapy and had to go for 6 rounds. There was a plan of bone and marrow transplant after chemo, but when he finished chemotherapy, we were told that there should be no more concern for the lymph nodes as they had disappeared.
During the evening on November 18th 2023, my grandma was making noodle soup but as she grabbed a bowl for herself, the bowl fell from her hand. She was then taken to the ER and the doctor did a MRI. They found that she has blood clots on her right side of the brain resulting her having a stroke which affected her left arm and left leg to be paralyzed. Then, she was transferred to an ICU in another Hospital 30 minutes away and stayed there for 1-2 weeks. She was then transferred to a rehabilitation center for a month and was discharged in December with ongoing weekly outpatient therapy.
In December 2023, we received news from the doctors that my grandpa’s cancer has come back. From there, he was transferred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester. They performed a biopsy and the results came back that there was a suspicious T-cell gene rearrangement and suspicious pathology for relapsed AITL. Therefore, my grandpa would be getting chemotherapy again starting next week and the doctors will proceed to do the bone and marrow transplant in June 2024 after the treatments. This process will take up to 6-9 weeks as he will be staying in Rochester in the meantime for the transplant.
On January 18th 2024, my grandma collapsed due to taking so many pills for her stroke causing her to feel harsh pain in her stomach. She was taken to the ER and had to stay there for 4 days due to her vomiting blood and bloody bowel movements
The ride from home to Mayo Clinic and back takes 2 hours. He will need a caregiver 24/7 during his time there and everyone in the family will be replacing one another. During the hard times of in need, we truly appreciate each donations as they will be going towards the medical expenses, medical supplies, and recovery needs for both my grandparents.
Thank you!
