Hi my name is Samantha and I’m fundraising for my cousin/soul sister Leana who over the past year and half has become bedridden due to Conversion Disorder, Severe Anxiety and Chronic Depression which has manifested into many physical disabilities. Leana, who was once the brightest star in the sky with an incredible sense of humor and an intelligent mind so witty and quick, has become a shell of herself.

She’s lost her ability to walk and stays in bed 24/7 unable to even pull herself up to a sitting position. She’s in constant pain throughout her body and cannot find any sort of comfort. Her mind is so foggy she can not keep up with a conversation and her memory has become increasingly worrisome where she’ll repeat questions over a period of 5-10 mins that you have already addressed. She’s not recognizing family and friends or conversations she’s had only a few days / weeks ago. Her speech has slurred and she has become incredibly weak. She lost her job due to this and her and her husband are surviving off a sole income with increasing medical bills.

Our next plan of action is to put her in a in-patient rehab that specializes with mental health and physical therapies where she’ll get the proper attention and medical intervention she desperately needs on a 24/7 basis. We are expecting this treatment cost to be very high while we wait for her permanent disability to kick in and hopefully be granted Medicare. To relieve some of the mounting pressure her husband is already dealing with (he’s had to sell off many of their belongings to keep up with the bills) we are asking for any sort of help people can give during these already tough times. Truly, we wouldn’t be asking if this situation wasn’t desperate.
