Road to recovery for Larry Wahler
Donation protected
When Larry Wahler received a diagnosis on December 14, 2023, that he was inflicted with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, he was then able to make sense of the symptoms of fatigue, shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness, etc. that he had been experiencing for the previous four months. Now he understood why he was constantly looking for a chair to sit on at a job site, or why he had been, on numerous occasions, awakened from a deep sleep at an intersection by honking horns behind him.
Larry was now aware that it was cancer and not the normal dysfunctions of aging that was destroying his well-being.
And so he has been teamed up with Dr. Alyssa Ceilesh of the St. Anthony Cancer Center, Rockford IL, who has devised a game plan that uses high-powered chemotherapy that is assessed periodically as to its effectiveness. Larry will receive two months of chemo sessions, and, if positive results are gleaned, there will be comprehensive implantation of stem cells into Larry’s bone marrow. The stem cell transplant will require a month-long stay at the Madison UW Cancer Center, and could create a permanent remission of the cancer, and give him a new and healthy lease on life.
To those of you who know Larry, he is rarely seen not working or keeping busy doing things around the house, even at the age of 76. Not being able to work is not just a challenge for Larry mentally and emotionally, but, also financially.
When Larry wins this fight, which we know he will, he is really excited to get back to doing what he loves and connecting with all of his friends, family and customers.
It is, therefore, with a deep and profound gratitude that we welcome you to Larry’s GoFundMe site.
Go in Peace.
