Donate to help Kyle’s road to being Cancer free

Kyle was having some horrible stomach pain among several other alarming symptoms, for several days, that landed him in the ER Tuesday night. After some bloodwork and a CT scan, he was admitted to the hospital for a large mass in his small intestines. Several possibilities were named as to what this could be, but until we got a biopsy with testing done, we did our best not to panic and stayed positive. Wednesday was a full day with no testing or answers, but Thursday was a busy day. After one failed Endoscopy in the AM, to obtain a biopsy for testing, we did have a successful biopsy, guided by Ultrasound that evening. But, of course, we have to wait for results.

Today is Saturday, and after what feels like the longest five days we’ve ever experienced, children being farmed out to family and every bad thought going through our minds imaginable, the biopsy results came back, positive for cancer.

Kyle has been diagnosed with GIST, or a Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor. A very rare cancer typically found in adults aged 40-70. There is a genetic mutation that causes this cancer, however we don’t know what that is at this time. The doctor is hopeful for the success of removal of this mass, but until we hear from the GI Doctor and Surgeon, we won’t know a definite answer as to what our immediate future will look like. And furthermore, once the surgeon is able to perform the surgery, we won’t know for sure whether or not, it will require more mass removal if it did spread or not.

Right now we are staying hopeful. But we don’t know what the road looks like. Anything will help us, as right now we don’t know when Kyle will be able to return to work. And we will have some travel between Bellingham, Seattle and Spokane, we just don’t know how much.
