Support for our Girl Scout Leader’s Daughter, Kim

Please support our Girl Scout Troop 1239 in raising money for the daughter of our leader and friend who was cruelly taken by leukemia. Eleanor Guldbeck was our pilot, teacher, inspiration, and the one we all turned to for help setting up a tent.

Eleanor was diagnosed with leukemia less than two years ago after discovering a sore in her mouth, something which at first we all thought naively would turn out to be nothing much. Unfortunately, after pushing through the physical and emotional toll of treatment she passed away in February after a brave battle.

A true leader, Eleanor modeled the words Girl Scouts live by, not just in Scouts, but in life. She reminded us to do our best to stay positive, be reliable, embrace bravery, be kind to others, respect ourselves, and make the world a better place. She taught our girls that you can be smart, stay true to who you are, strive towards your goals, unleash your true potential, and achieve success -- and still be humble about it.

Eleanor’s daughter, Kim, exemplifies all these attributes proving that apples don’t fall far from trees. Kim is going to do good for the world like her mom. But she has a long road ahead and we are raising funds to help her as she navigates life without her mother. Kim is a sophomore at Miami Beach Senior High. She is an amazingly good student and kid with a ton of potential who has really been jolted by this. We want to support her as much as we can to get through high school and into college. Eleanor, who worked as a librarian in the Miami-Dade library system, was the one who supported the family.

Mom is the person who is always supposed to be there for you and now we are here trying to help Kim in as mom-like a way as we can. Please help support Kim.
