Help Ken Bailey Breathe Again –

Ken Bailey, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and veteran, has been battling Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF)—a relentless lung disease caused by radiation exposure during his service aboard the USS Enterprise (1981-1984) and years of working as an aircraft painter. The only cure for IPF is a double lung transplant, and after years of struggle, Ken has been approved for surgery at Stanford Medical Center.

A Long Road to Transplant

Ken’s lungs have been deteriorating for over 25 years, but the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated his decline. Since 2022, he has relied on supplemental oxygen to survive, and his doctors told him he had only three years left without a transplant. That time is up. Thanks to years of pulmonary rehab and unwavering determination, Ken is physically and mentally ready for this life-saving surgery.

Why We Need Your Help

While the Navy is covering the surgery, Ken and his wife must relocate 350 miles from home to Stanford for at least four months post-transplant. During this time, Ken will need frequent medical monitoring, medication adjustments, and physical therapy. Out-of-pocket costs for housing, transportation, and living expenses will be at least $25,000—and that’s if everything goes smoothly.

Ken’s Promise: Giving Back

Ken has always lived a life of service. He has been sober for 35 years, dedicating himself to helping others in AA. He runs a small business that provides jobs and serves the community. Once recovered, he plans to give back by painting a home for someone in need, among other acts of gratitude. But most importantly, he just wants to take his grandson fishing again.

How You Can Help

Every donation, big or small, will help Ken and his wife navigate this critical time. Your support will cover:
✅ Temporary housing near Stanford ($139/night)
✅ Travel and living expenses for four months
✅ Medical and recovery-related costs not covered by insurance

Please donate today and help Ken breathe again. If you can’t donate, please share his story to spread the word. Together, we can give Ken the gift of life.
