Hi, my name is Brandon Rivera, and I’m reaching out for a little help during an incredibly tough time.

In 2023 I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). My daily targeted therapy is working well and keeping the cancer under control, but the side effects—constant fatigue, nausea, pain, and low energy—make every day a battle.

Just a few weeks ago, my family decided to relocate, and I moved with them for the support I need right now. The timing couldn’t have been worse: the move forced me to leave my previous job, and I was out of work for several weeks with no income coming in. Bills kept coming-utilities, medical copays, groceries, everything.

I’m so thankful that I just started a new job and I’m back to work. I’m also in the middle of applying for Social Security Disability benefits because of my illness, but approval can take many months (or longer) and there’s no guarantee.

Right now I’m behind on bills and trying to catch up while I wait for my first paychecks to start coming in regularly. Any help would mean the world—it would let me cover the overdue essentials, ease the stress, and focus on staying as healthy as possible.

I’ve always prided myself on working hard and handling things on my own, but cancer has shown me it’s okay to ask for help when life throws too much at once. Every dollar will go straight to keeping the lights on, food on the table, and a roof over our heads until I’m fully back on my feet.
